Jon was born and raised in Oklahoma City, where he graduated from Christian Heritage Academy in 1994. He received his undergraduate degree in business from Oklahoma State University in 1998.

Prior to attending law school, Jon worked for Southwestern Bell Wireless. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma School of Law in May 2003, Jon joined the team of McAlister, McAlister, McKinnis & Tuggle. His focus is primarily in the areas of business law, real estate, and charitable and non-profit organizations. He is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, Christian Legal Society, Edmond Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Edmond Class XXII, and a former associate in the William J. Holloway American Inn of Court.

He and his wife, Erin, along with their two children reside in Edmond, Oklahoma. The Austins enjoy being actively involved at First Baptist Church of Edmond where they are teachers in the college department. In addition to spending time with his family, Jon also enjoys reading, participating in sports, hunting and snow skiing.
